Christchurch continues the huge project to restore all the city's essential services from the devastating damage of the 2011 earthquakes.
Damaged wastewater and stormwater pipes are being relined using Trenchless Technology. By using this method of pipe repair the Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team can continue the repairs with minimal interruption to traffic movements. Also to avoid major digging of roadways, trenchless technology can reduce repair times and avoid major public disruptions.
During the earthquake repair project, some of Christchurch's oldest pipes have received pipe relining to strengthen against future earthquake damage. The work includes a 133-year-old brick barrel stormwater pipe.
