This week saw the fifth World Plumbing Day celebrations. The day aims to remind us of the important role plumbing has had in our lives and how it continues to provide life-saving clean water sources and water conservation practices for every country in the world.
In the western world, we don't really think about our pipes and drains very often, they're just part of everyday life in a house with constant running water and reliable drainage systems. However, in many developing countries, basic plumbing could be the difference between sickness and health or life and death.
This World Plumbing Day we are reminded to keep our plumbing systems healthy and to conserve water where ever we can. Australia is a country of extremes, it only takes a couple of months to go from wet to very dry, just because the grass is green now doesn't mean we shouldn't be looking to the future and saving every drop of water we can. It's up to every individual do make small decisions every day to make the difference.
