It can be a property owner's nightmare. Discovering that the damp issues you're having in your home are caused by a water leak in a broken pipe under the house can really spoil your day. It sounds disastrous but the solutions to this issue are not as expensive or frightening as you think. Reline Solutions have some relatively simple ways to find the leak and fix the pipe without having to move to your mother-in-law's for a month.
Finding exactly where the water leak is occurring is half the battle. You can't just dig around the pipe and find the damp ground, but there are other options.
Using a CCTV drain camera to inspect the drain from the inside is one leak detection option. The camera provides a detailed picture of the drain pipe allowing our team to find any cracks, breaks or faulty joints which could be letting moisture out. An accurate assessment of the pipe to pinpoint the fault means less 'just in case' pipe patching.
Another leak detection method is a drain pressure test. Using pressure-sensitive equipment we can detect differences in water pressure in areas with a water leak.
Now that the location of the broken pipe has been accurately established we can begin the broken pipe repair . There are several alternatives depending on the extent of the break and its position. As the broken drain pipe is under the house foundations it is essential that we use no dig pipe repairs.
If the pipe is cracked or broken in one or two sections we can use pipe patching to repair the drain pipe. The versatile German patching product we use adheres well to most pipes, including clay, plastic or steel. The process is quick, trenchless and lasts for up to 50 years.
Pipe relining involves placing a new liner on an entire length of pipe. The end product is as good as digging up the whole pipe and replacing it with a new one. The pipe liner provides a strong, hard layer inside the old pipe which will last for years to come.
A broken drain pipe under the house doesn't have to mean a huge excavation job, there are specialist no-dig pipe repair solutions on offer which significantly reduce the pain and expense involved in repairs.
